Siskin

"Take two beautiful, charismatic and musically masterful girls, throw in a piano and a guitar…stir in their own sweeet lyrics and SISKIN are born to delight." (Esther Trendall - Chicks Rock) SISKIN are Galen Ayers and Kirsty Newton; two very different girls from very different backgrounds... Galen is the daughter of maverick cult legend Kevin Ayers and was raised in the famously eclectic Spanish town of Deia. Here she infused her poetry, voice and songwriting with the sea breeze from the shores of her unconventional hometown. Kirsty on the other hand grew up in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. Classically trained and with a natural ear for music, she moved to London in search of a voice to help bring her musical ideas to life... "If you revel in the elegant complexity of the music, the lyrics are something else again. In the grand tradition of meaningful female music, numbers like Sitting In A Bar and Oblivion will make you achingly aware that what you think you know about any human being is probably only their surface layer. The lyrics take you deeper and let you swim in emotional honesty for as long as the music lasts..." (excerpt from mdfalco's live review from The Evening Standard online) SISKIN released their first single, a cover version of Joe Jackson's 'It's Different For Girls', in December 2008 to critical acclaim and received a thumbs up from Joe Jackson himself. It was also playlisted on BBC London. It is the only cover on their soon-to-be-released debut album. WACBIZ thanks Mike Maska from Big Hassle for yet another stellar group!
