Head Chemist
Head Chemists' debut album, "Bittersweet Melody" follows a fresh production concept by being a mixture of opposing elements. Musically, Head Chemists bring seemingly unrelated sounds and instruments together to create their unique "Chem Pop" sound. The music of Head Chemists employs many techniques, from blending acoustic guitar and vocals with sweeping synthesizers to sampling JFK speeches and making him 'rap' to the backing of bagpipe-ridden hip-hop beats. The hour-long, 17 track, "Bittersweet Melody" tells the story of a day in the life of a Head Chemist. Have you ever heard of a band, writing, recording and broadcasting music 6,000 miles apart? The band, Head Chemists are doing just that and a lot more. Between building their own recording studio, Electraquarium in Durham, NC and broadcasting the new music over the airwaves on KCOF in Hawaii, the whole spectrum of music experimentation is happening to these three talented songwriters, John David Parsons, BenJamin Prichard and John A. Loy. With a catalog of songs nearing 200, the Head Chemists are posed and ready to break out. After the successful release in 2005 of their debut album, Bittersweet Melody, the Head Chemists got right back into the process of writing and recording new music. Inspiration came from a number of places such JD’s travels to Costa Rica, Singapore, Mexico, Spain, Cambodia as well as BenJamin’s boat trip into the South Pacific and living in Hawaii. The band also has high hopes for continuing to place their music in films, music videos and commercials. Here at WACBIZ we hope to make that happen, with such talent, it should be easy!
