Anna Rae
Anna was raised in California, lived in North Dakota, Minnesota, Wyoming, Australia, and now Boston. Known for lilting melodies and gut-wrenching lyricism, Anna's debut album Peddler's Wares nods to her folk roots, and features her emergence in the Boston indie scene. It highlights her signature style of combining melodic bass guitar with soaring vocals: pleading, spare, offering comfort and an honest appraisal. Peddler's Wares features stellar Boston musicians, demonstrating the influence of Mason Jennings, Townes Van Zandt, Patty Griffin, The Weepies, AA Bondy, and Radiohead. Songs range in style from folk-rock to indie-pop, their themes at once self-reflective and universal, expressing the tension between wilderness and city living, seeking forgiveness and accepting blame, desire and loss, love and distance.
